THE BUDDHA RELICS
Buddha
Relics are the cremated remains of the current Buddha. Before the
Buddha passed away he stated Buddha Relics will aid in preserving His Teachings to last for
a very long time of 5,000 years. Through the process of cremation
after death, the remains of both the Buddha and his disciples (Arahants)
will turn into crystallised Relics for the future generations.
Buddhist
Pagodas are especially built to house these Buddha Relics for the
future generations. Both Buddha's and Arahants' Relics will multiply,
disappear, change colours and size according to the environments.
The
Buddha Relics have two purposes, one to prove to people that Enlightenment
is possible and two to encourage practices of good virtues.
