Consecration Ceremony

the Principal consecrating and anointing the Jade

Visakha Puja Day is one of the greatest religious holidays which fall on the 15th day of the waxing moon in the 6th lunar month. The significant celebration is held to commemorate the Buddha's Birth, Enlightenment and Death (Maha Parinibbana).
      On 12 May 2006 Visakha Bucha Day, Wat Ou Sai Kham performed a consecration ceremony to start the initiation the carving of the Second Buddha Sihing Jade and Third Buddha Sihing Jade with Phra Khru Manoon Dhamma Phorn (Abbot of Wat Mahawan, Chiang Mai:  88 years old and 66 vassa) as the Principal in consecrating and anointing the jade. There were also 9 other Buddhist Bhikkhu reciting an auspicious Buddhist Chanting.
      Mr. Pakorn Buranupakorn (MP for Chiang Mai and Secretary to a Deputy Prime Minister) was the Chairperson for the laity together with many other Buddhists
     Mr. Sakchai Weerasakwattana & family (Chair for the creation of the Jade Buddha 2) and Mr. Sansern Chuanpraphan & family from Bangkok also attended the ceremony.

      At this moment, the two jade boulder to be carved into Buddha Sihing Jade 2 and Buddha Sihing Jade 3 is now at Wat Ou Sai Kham.  Any wishing to see the carving of jade you are most welcome.  The carving will be completed as of December 2006 and Buddha Relics will be placed in the Crown Top Knot of the two Buddha Sihing Jade to be in time for the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne.
